Questions, bugs, a class that won't sync, or a privacy or copyright request: email sphwbuddy@gmail.com. For sync problems, include your school's Canvas address and what the extension's popup says.

Have an idea, or found a bug? Tell us with this form. We read every one.

Setting up

  1. Add the Homework Hatch extension to Chrome. It opens the School links page.
  2. Sign in (or sign up). The extension links itself to your account on that page.
  3. Open your school's Canvas, click the Homework Hatch icon in the toolbar, read what it syncs and press Agree and connect, then allow access to that Canvas site.
  4. On School links, tick the classes whose files you want to keep here.

From then on it syncs every hour while Chrome is open, and only downloads files it doesn't already have, from the classes you ticked.

Common problems

  • "Logged out": log in to Canvas in any tab; the next sync picks up from there. Keeping a Canvas tab open helps at schools with strict sign-in.
  • "Not linked to Homework Hatch yet": open School links (under Account) while signed in.
  • "A file couldn't be uploaded": it's retried automatically at the next sync.
  • A class is missing: every class you're actively enrolled in syncs. If you hid it on Homework Hatch, show it again from Classes. The popup's Courses shown list controls which classes the extension shows and handles files for; due dates and grades sync for every class either way.
  • "Hidden by instructors": normal. Some classes turn off tabs like Files or Pages; the extension still reads what your instructor links for you in modules and pages, the same things you can open in Canvas.
  • A class's files are missing: tick the class under "Which classes' files should we keep?" on School links.

Your data

Export or delete your data from Settings → Your data. Revoking the extension's token on the School links page stops syncing immediately. See the Privacy Policy. Copyright complaints: see the Copyright policy.
